Read this imortant information below - it's what prompted me to do this:
Ok. That's very nice. A new Chanukah song. Jeff Goldberg of The Atlantic, and the musical collaborator on Hatch's song, was featured on NPR recently and was quoted as saying, "Most Chanukah music is pretty lame." Click here for the NPR story. (BTW, This was brought to my attention by fellow Jewish singer/songwriter/recording artist Beth Schafer in her newsletter. Go to www.bethschafer.com to sign up.)
Friends, there are a lot of contemporary Jewish musicians out there writing good, meaningful, "rocking" Chanukah songs. Me included. I'm very proud of my contribution to the Chanukah music canon, and we worked very hard on putting out a quality product. That's why I want everyone who wants one, to own this song - no charge.
Beth Schafer just put out a new CD called Raise It Up, Bring It Down with the wonderful song Night By Night.
Julie Silver put out a Chanukah CD in 2007 with a great new take on the Dreidle Song.
Check out these other artists, as well, for great Jewish music:
Dan Nichols, Sam Glaser, Sababa, Neal Katz, Doug Cotler, Craig Taubman and many, many more! You can find them all at www.oySongs.com.
It wouldbe a great idea to write to some of these people - like Jeffery Goldberg and NPR - and let them know that we're out there. Send them links, encourge air play, encorage other artists to cover the songs - what ever you can think of!
