Hey, It's Noah issue 12
Well, it's newsletter time again. And how do we know it's newsletter time? Because I say it is, that's how. I promise that this newsletter will be sent out at irregular, unpredictable intervals. Hey! Let's start booking for Fall and Winter 2009 - 2010! Call me. 216-403-0384. Email me. nbudin@sbcglobal.net or noah@noahbudin.com
I led some terrific workshops in January, February and May. I did two Laughter workshops, one in January and one in May, in Columbus at the JCC for Jewish educators and Jewish professionals, respectively. For more information about my Laughter workshops, visit my website page http://www.noahbudin.com/laughter.php
In January I led a workshop for the Siegal College of Judaic Studies in Cleveland, OH called "Not a Jewish Song, but Not Not a Jewish Song." It took place during a month-long event called "Hodesh Limud" (Month of Learning). The workshop was enhanced by Rabbi Stephen Weiss of Congregation B'nai Jeshuren in Beachwood, Ohio, who offered intelligent, thoughtful and often moving commentary and insight about the songs. The closing ceremony for Hodesh Limud was held at the College in February, and culminated with a concert organized and headlined by me. I was fortunate and honored to be joined by so many talented musicians and groups including, David Budin (bass), Maury Epstien (guitar, vocals), Stephen Greenman (violin), Dror Biran (piano) and the debut appearance of The Cleveland Jewish Community Chorus.
In April and May I did a stint as Speed in "The Odd Couple" for the Fairmount Performing Arts Conservatory. In July, I acted in two of the ten ten minute one acts in the "10-10 Festival" at The Chagrin Valley Little Theater. That was a lot of tens.
On Friday, August 14, 2009 at 8:00 PM I'll be performing in a concert entitled "Soul and Heart: A Two-Hour Festival of Folk, Blues and Pop-Gospel" in the Evans Amphitheater at Cain Park in Cleveland Heights, OH, and co-produced by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. The Woodstock spirit lives! Featuring Long Road (Cleveland's favorite and only 60s-style folk group), the Prayer Warriors (pop-gospel), Rob Williams (Woodwinds), and Noah Budin (acoustic singer-songwriter) playing individually and in various combinations with each other. General admission in advance $20 (Patron Series $17); day of show $23. On sale at Ticketmaster 4/24 (online, outlets, 800-745-3000). Cain Park Ticket Office opens May 30 for Cleveland Heights residents only; June 6 for all others. ![]()
On Sunday, August 23, 2009, between 1:00 - 3:00, the musicians from the above Soul and Heart concert (including me) will be performing at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of their Woodstock 40th Anniversary Weekend.
Coming soon to the web site: My Virtual Press Kit! There is a link there now, but there's not much attached to it. The page is still under construction.
Also, still working on a songbook. It will include the sheet music for the songs on both CDs, plus a "chordster" version of all the songs. Drop me a line if you think you'd be interested in having one. It'll help spur me on to finish it.
And check out this new cool website www.edibletorah.com. It's run by my friend and webmaster Leon Adato, and it's such a great concept! Can't do it justice to explain here. Go and look!
Hey, you can also follow me on Twitter<.a<. Not that I ever tweet. But, if you follow me, I'll tweet once, just for you.
While you're at it, friend me on Facebook. I use that a lot.
As always, you can see my calendar of events on my website here. And, if you'd like to see where I've been (and who wouldn't?) check out my calendar achives here. You can also see past newsletters here.
*Noah appears regularly at The Temple-Tifereth Israel for the monthly Rock My Soul Shabbat service. Rock My Soul is an all-musical, all ages, Friday night worship service featuring contemporary, traditional and original music, sometimes upbeat, sometimes contemplative, always soulful, played by a 10 piece band of talented congregational and professional musicians. This worship experience is free and open to the public.
